I had a phone interview with the director, who seemed sharp, and I felt it went well. Then I went for a second in-person interview in NY. I met two people there. The first interview went fine, but the second interviewer was really digging and asked some odd questions, like how I installed LAMP – did I watch a video or follow instructions? It felt like they were probing into my past, jumping from things I did 18 years ago to my last job, which didn't feel like a good way to interview. The conversation was awkward, like a bad first date. I didn't get the job, and the feedback was that I didn't know their scheduler.

Started with a recruiter call, just to check my background and experience. Then a call with the VP of IT, which was a pretty technical chat about my work history and the role's tech side. Next up was the onsite interviews. First, I met with the Head of Development and another Operations Engineer for a technical discussion, then with the COO and VP of IT for a behavioral/cultural fit chat. Each of those meetings was about 30 minutes, so an hour total for the first onsite. The last onsite was with the CEO. We talked about the future direction of the IT/Operations team, the projects he wanted done, and general behavioral stuff. He's really technical, so the tech talk with him was as deep as with the Head of Dev. The whole thing took a bit longer because of my schedule, but OptionMetrics was cool about it.

I had a call with a recruiter, then another with HR. After that, there was a Hackerrank test. The next step was a Zoom meeting where they asked behavioral questions and a LeetCode problem. I didn't make it to the supposed final call with the CEO. The whole thing took a while and I had to wait a long time for a response after they decided not to move forward with my application. I wish they'd been more upfront instead of leaving me hanging.

The interview process was super smooth and easy to follow. It started with a 30-minute phone screen with the manager I'd be working with. Then, I went into the office for three more interviews, totaling about 2.5 hours. Interviewers from different teams came in groups of two. They asked me a mix of situational, behavioral, and technical questions, and we also talked about my past work.
