My interview with Optimum/Altice was quick, organized, and respectful. It started with HR reaching out to schedule a call where they explained the job, confirmed details, and talked about my background clearly. Then, I got a take-home technical project that was interesting and tough, which I liked because I could show my skills without live coding pressure. After sending it back, I had a call with a developer about my project and some tech concepts, which felt more like a chat than an exam. Next was a call with the hiring manager about the role and team, and my experience. A developer joined that call too and asked more tech questions, plus a quick coding exercise. We didn't finish it because of time, but they said they saw enough. Later that day, HR checked in to talk about salary and start date, and I got an offer soon after. I was really surprised how smooth and fast it all went, especially right before Christmas.

I interviewed for the Data Analyst role at Optimum. The process highlighted what companies are looking for: strong SQL, Python, and data viz skills, the ability to link data to business issues, and clear communication for explaining analysis. The manager round focused more on how I solve problems, collaborate, learn, and fit my experience with the role's needs in Analysis, Engineering, or Development, rather than just coding. It was a good way to see what they expect and what managers value beyond technical skills.

The interview process was pretty straightforward. It started with a quick 30-minute HR screening. After that, there were two rounds with the hiring manager. I got selected to interview with the VP, but then there was an issue with salary information. They had a range posted (77-127k) and I told HR I was looking for the higher end, which she acknowledged. During the VP interview, they said 'transparently' that they would only offer 100k with no negotiation. I turned it down politely. I felt my time was wasted since they knew I wanted the higher end but didn't tell me during the HR interview. If you have a salary cap, just post it and be upfront from the start. Posting a range without intending to meet the higher end is disingenuous.

I applied via the Altice website and heard back a few days later via text from the recruiter. I had a wonderful interview with him where he stated I would be moved forward in the process to speak to the hiring manager. He was honest about not knowing exactly who I would be meeting with because there was restructuring happening with the directors. I never heard back from the recruiter even though I reached out twice. I both texted and emailed him to see if I could get any information regarding the timeline for that second interview and was simply ghosted. Very disappointing considering I was super pumped and did a lot of preparation for that second interview
