Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Oppenheimer Holdings.
Intern
It was 3 rounds total. The first round was mostly behavioral with some technical questions, and I spoke with one person. The second round was heavily focused on markets and involved two people. The final round was primarily behavioral, and I met with the MD. They asked a lot of questions about markets, so make sure you have questions prepared for them.
- What would be your strategy for portfolio allocation?
Intern
the interview process was pretty simple and had many stages with various people from different job levels and also from different departments. they really cared about what you know and if you are willing to learn.
- Can you tell me about a time you faced a challenge and how you handled it?
Investment Banking Intern
Had 2 initial interviews. The first one went really well, with about 10 minutes dedicated to behavioral questions, 15 minutes to technical questions, and then 5 minutes for me to ask questions. The second interviewer, however, was quite rude and unprofessional. They showed up 15 minutes late and then ended the interview a full 15 minutes early, not giving me any chance to ask questions.
- Could you explain a Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) analysis to me?
