I had three interviews that were each about half an hour long, all over Skype. First, I talked with the manager about my general background and relevant skills. Then, I had a conversation with the VP of the department. They asked me some questions, and then I got to ask them questions about the job, the company culture, and so on. Lastly, I spoke with another team member who asked about how I work both in teams and on my own, and also why I was interested in this particular sector.

I was contacted 40 minutes after the interview started, which was a bummer and seemed to be an issue for others too. I spoke with the talent acquisition person who said she would pass my info to the hiring manager. Nine days later, I got word they weren't moving forward with my application.

Behavioral Case Other

After applying, I had a quick 15-min phone chat with a recruiter. They seemed to be checking if I knew much about the company, the industry, and specifically energy efficiency. Then, I moved on to the main team for five 30-minute phone interviews. One of these was a case interview about a strategic challenge Opower faces. The other four interviews were more about my background, what I could bring to Opower, and my thoughts on the company's challenges and future growth. You really need to know the company's SWOT and be ready to discuss opportunities and challenges. Make sure you know the website and blog really well, and be prepared to talk about their business model and any ideas you have for improvements.
