Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at OpenSpace (CA).
Front End Developer
The interview process was quite simple. The interviewer was friendly and appeared knowledgeable. The initial screening interview included very thorough, well-thought-out questions that were fitting for the position and level.
- Can you share details about a project you were involved in?
- What was a major success you've had?
- Tell me about a project failure you encountered.
Front End Developer
So I started with a recruiter call, then I talked to a co-founder which was pretty cool, then I had a great chat with a front-end engineer. After that, it was all downhill. They gave me a take-home coding challenge and I finished it in two days. But then, I couldn't figure out how to submit it and the front-end engineer didn't give me their email. I tried reaching out to the recruiter three times with no luck. I even tried guessing the engineer's email, but no response. I feel like they ghosted me and I'm super disappointed because I put time into that code challenge and it wasn't even looked at. They should at least have the decency to email back and say they're not moving forward.
- Could you code a tooltip component using React?
Frontend Engineer
The interview process took about a month because of a company gathering, but it was pretty smooth. The recruiter kept me in the loop and set expectations well. Besides the usual behavioral questions, I had to code a React prototype using a sample API. It felt like a good test of my skills and what the job entails.
- Could you build a React site based on the provided example API?
