I got an email from the recruiter wanting to talk more about my skills and they gave me a scheduling link to pick my own date/time. We talked on the phone, no video. They started by chatting about the company's vibe and growth. Then, they asked me questions about my experience and how it fits the job.

Applied online and then had an initial recruiter phone call. After that, there was a technical screen which involved React Coding. The final stage was a 1/2 day of interviews. This included System Design, where I was asked to build a DB that fetches from the blockchain. There was also React Coding where I had to build a form with client-side validation, and a Coding question to build a tic-tac-toe game. A behavioral interview was also part of this day. Interestingly, 2 of the 4 interviews (system design and coding) were backend focused. I mentioned to the system design interviewer that I was interviewing for a frontend position, but he didn't seem to care and said, "lets just pretend you are a backend engineer" and proceeded with his questions. Everyone else was friendly though. I was expecting all interviews to be front-end focused.

Behavioral Presentation

The whole recruiting process was FANTASTIC, I can't say enough good things about the team. OpenSea really cares about their people and goes all out to set you up for success. It starts with the Recruiter -> HM chat -> case study in front of a panel -> then follow up chats with the HM and other team members. Since they're still a smaller company, they offer constant communication with everyone on your panel to make sure you feel supported. If you're into web3, this is a great place to dive in with a dedicated team that will be leaders in the space. A big thank you to my recruiter and all the panelists for listening to my case study presentation. Hope our paths cross in the future!

I had an initial phone screen with a recruiter, then another with the hiring manager. The recruiter mistakenly had me down for the wrong job, and the hiring manager was unaware. Despite the confusion, we had a good conversation, but I was concerned about whether my actual target role would be considered. After more than 10 days with no word, I followed up and got a generic response about them 'going in a different direction,' without acknowledging the error or the initial mix-up. It appears things are moving very quickly, leading to several mistakes. I know someone else who had a similarly disorganized and messy experience interviewing for a different position.
