Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at OpenGov.
Director of Talent Acquisition
The application process was straight forward. I applied via LinkedIn and about 3 weeks later heard back with a request for a phone interview. During this call, I was given the history of the position, what they were looking for, and asked about my experience. My onsite consisted of 3 interviews. The first and third went smoothly. The 2nd interview was pretty much a disaster from the start. The interviewer was in no condition whatsoever to be doing an interview. He couldn't fight it any longer and he put his head in his hands, put his elbows on the table and closed his eyes completely while I was speaking... only opening his eyes again after I finished. This happened 3 times during the interview. He also didn't seem to know what I was there for. After the 3rd interview, my contact came back in and said "we typically move pretty fast. The next step is another onsite with a few more members of the executive team". It's been a month and I haven't heard back from them.

Recruiting Coordinator
I applied online and someone immediately reached out. He was so thrilled with all my experience and said I was a top 3 candidate to move on with for next steps. Had a Zoom meeting with 3 people. Let’s just say only one was friendly and had an actual personality. However, interview seemed to have gone well. My issue with this company is I did not hear back from them until EIGHT DAYS LATER through an email that I was not selected. Really? Eight days?! What if I had another offer waiting?! The market is tight right now with people who actually want to work and you waited over a week to contact me to tell me I was not selected. Even staffing agencies are more professional.

Technical Recruiter
The VP of Talent Acquisition reached out to me on LinkedIn and we set up a 45-minute video call for later that week. He was great, professional, and explained the company and its values. He asked typical recruiter questions about metrics and process. I got an offer from another company and accepted it before finishing the OpenGov process. Overall, it was a good experience and I'd consider them again.
- Can you describe your recruitment process?
