First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at OpenEye.
Tech Support Specialist
Started with a quick test on the topics. Then a brief chat with higher-ups. My situation was a bit unusual since they called me back a few times, which made me a little unsure about their decision process.
- Some strangely personal questions were asked about family, local interests, and gaming.
Software Engineer
The process was super quick. I completed a very simple online assessment. Then, on a Friday, the recruiter reached out to schedule a call with a level 2 engineer for the following Monday. That call was 30 minutes, focusing on basic OOP, and then I moved on to the final 'panel' interview that same Friday. The panel lasted 3 hours and included 4 engineers, though 3 of them were silent the whole time. One engineer led the interview and asked me to diagram simple inheritance and then dependency injection, building on previous sub-problems. It seemed like they were unprepared, and I was confused why some engineers were present who clearly didn't know what was going on.
- Could you create an animal interface or abstract class and demonstrate the relationships?
- Can you explain useEffect and other React hooks?
Director of Customer Success
I applied on 5/29 and got an email from the Lead Talent Acquisition Partner on 5/30. We spoke the same day. That call went well, and they mentioned I'd be talking to 20-30 other people, with the VP of Global Sales making the final decision on my fit, as I'd likely report to them. On 6/13, the Lead Talent Acquisition Partner emailed to say I advanced to the next round: a video call with the VP of Global Sales on 6/19. I was ready, knowing the company values, products, solutions, and the role, and how my experience matched. The VP call was more of a chat than an interview. They mostly listened to company needs and what they wanted in the role, while I asked about current pain points for the Customer Success Team, customers, and their expectations for the Director of Customer Success. I asked the VP directly if there was any hesitation in moving me forward, and they said no, calling me a strong candidate. They mentioned the Lead Talent Acquisition Partner would schedule the next step, an on-site interview. The call was supposed to be 45 mins but went 1.5 hours at the VP's request, which I was fine with. After the VP call on 6/19, I texted the Lead Talent Acquisition Partner a video thanking them and sharing the VP's feedback. I followed up with an email on 6/20 to confirm they got the message since the text got no response. I also emailed the Lead Talent Acquisition Partner on 6/24 and 6/27. On 7/1, I received a rejection email from the Lead Talent Acquisition Partner saying the hiring team chose another candidate, but they were impressed with my experience and would keep my info for future roles. I responded, appreciating the update, but expressed that while I enjoyed the conversation with the VP, the communication process could be better. I pointed out the VP called me a strong candidate with no hesitation, and after that, it took 8 business days to get a response to my emails. I suggested a simple update like 'touching base with the VP and will get back within 2 weeks' would be better than leaving candidates in the dark, especially after such positive feedback. I hope future candidates have a better experience, as I found the process unprofessional despite the company's good Glassdoor ratings.

AI Enablement Specialist
Instead of a phone screen, I got a tour of the HQ in Liberty Lake. Then, I had a call with my main contact and a director. The final round was an interview with the director and my manager.
