First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at OpenAI.
Product Manager
Poorly coordinated from beginning to end. Interviews got scheduled. I was told very clearly that questions wouldn’t be about ChatGPT or OpenAI but they actually were. The interviews themselves are not hard. The process is basically the same as the PM interview process at Meta. There is definitely some deliberate gatekeeping going on though.
- What kind of goal would you set for an AI-only social network that OpenAI is creating?
Product Manager
Had an interview with the recruiter. The interview was really well organized: scheduling was smooth and the recruiter was well-prepared and friendly, focused on hiring for product roles. I got the results about a week after the interview.
- Asked me to walk through my experience.
Product Manager
Straight forward process, started with a recruiter call, then a screen panel on product sense and analytics. Recruiters were very unresponsive and didn’t share any feedback after the screeners. I’m pretty sure they filled the role with an internal transfer but never told me about that change.
- Standard product sense and analytics type questions.
