The people I spoke with were friendly and happy to answer anything I asked. They talked about the company culture and what it's like in the department. They were clear about what the job involves and what they expect.

I found the job on Indeed and then had to apply on the Open Mortgage website. The career portal requires a code sent to your phone or email. My phone code didn't come through, but the email code did. I applied in early October 2019 and got an email from Logan Manning, the Recruiting and Sales Support Specialist, within a week to set up an interview. I had my first interview with Logan, and then a second one two days later with the Branch Manager, Gene Dupuis. Logan managed the whole interview and hiring process really well; he was super organized and responsive, and Gene was too. After Gene made the offer, I was contacted by my processing manager, who also moved fast. She reached out the day after we spoke to get my info to book my travel for training at her office. Gene had already ordered my workstation the same day to ensure it was ready for my first day. Honestly, it was one of the most organized interview and onboarding processes I've been through. My friends who work there say the whole operation at Open Mortgage is as organized and efficient as my experience. It was impressive, and I'm excited to start.

I had two interviews for the IT Director role. The first was an hour, and the second was supposed to be two hours but ended up being three hours long. They didn't seem to respect my time, especially since I'm currently employed. I met with the CEO, who frankly didn't seem to value anyone's time, including his CFO's. The CEO spent a lot of time bragging about his intelligence and IQ, even showing me a bobblehead of himself dressed as Superman. This ego talk made the second interview run an hour over. The CFO was pleasant and considerate, though. The COO, who is married to the CEO, was also present. Interestingly, the CEO admitted during the interview that he probably shouldn't be a CEO. They also requested references, checked them, and then decided to offer the job to someone already working there.
