First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at onsemi.
Intern
The whole interview process was pretty straightforward with 2 rounds. I first had a recruiter call, then a technical assessment. After that, I met with the hiring manager. The questions were mainly technical. It all wrapped up in about 2 weeks, and they kept me updated. I didn't get an offer in the end.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
Intern
I got an email about 3 weeks after applying to set up a phone screening, which is part of their really organized HR hiring process. Then, I had an in-person interview. First, I talked one-on-one with the Hiring Manager, which was cool - he was nice and knew his stuff, asking good follow-up questions. After that, I had a panel interview with three people from the department. This part was just behavioral questions, super straightforward but really awkward and dry. They didn't ask follow-ups and didn't seem that interested in what I could do, just taking notes. Since it's an internship, I'm a student with not much experience, so some of the behavioral questions were tough to answer. Maybe situational questions would've been a better fit.
- Can you describe a situation where an unexpected external change impacted an event or project you were working on?
Intern
I applied to multiple internships on the company website for months. About three weeks after submitting my application for this specific internship, I received an email from HR expressing interest and requesting more information about me. This included basic questions about my strengths and weaknesses. After I sent back my responses, I got another email from HR the very next day, informing me that I would have a phone interview two days later. The email also provided a specific time for the interview and mentioned it would last approximately 30 minutes.
- Can you describe your time management abilities?
