So, I had an initial phone interview set up, but I totally missed the call cause my phone was on silent. The interviewer left a voicemail saying they were free for the next 30 mins. I called back like 10 mins later, but no answer. Then I shot an email to say sorry and that I was still free and also later that afternoon. Radio silence. Emailed again at the end of the day to apologize and say I could do Monday or Tuesday (today). Still nothing back. I get that maybe missing the call was a big deal, but why just ghost me instead of saying so? It was kinda confusing and just a bummer.

Started with an initial screen, then I talked with a leader about my experience in a more open-ended chat. After that, there was a take-home assignment which was of medium length, followed by an hour dedicated to system design. It was a really nice experience overall, no leetcode problems, and it felt well-paced. The interviewers were really engaging and seemed like great people to work with.

The whole thing took about 8 weeks, and they ended up offering me the job. It was split into 4 main stages: first, a quick call with the recruiter. Then, a video chat with the hiring manager, who would be my direct boss. After that, I had an on-site interview where I met a bunch of different team members for what felt like culture fit chats. Finally, there was another on-site interview that involved a mock exercise. Overall, the process was pretty in-depth, and everyone at Onna was great to talk to. The interviews themselves weren't super tough if you're solid on your knowledge and really get what this job is all about. Onna has this thing where they really encourage feedback, so be ready to get some and also to think about what you could have done better. Leave your ego at the door and come in ready to work together. For me, it felt more like a conversation than a formal interview. Since the role is customer-focused, it was easy to show that customer-centricity, which is key for them. Just ditch the buzzwords and say what you mean. Be yourself, and you'll do fine. Oh, and they gave me a cool care package during the on-site with tissues, sanitizer, and gum, which was a nice touch.

A recruiter from Onna contacted me on LinkedIn to set up an initial screening. The whole process took about 3.5 weeks from start to decision. My start date was two weeks after that because they do onboarding in batches. Everyone I talked to was really nice, dressed casually, and was very open about the company and how things work. I really enjoyed chatting with everyone.
