& Process

It was a long process, taking 5 weeks and involving 4 interviews, including phone calls and conference calls. One interview was cut short after 15 minutes due to an incident, and another was rescheduled to the next day because of poor time management. They presented very generic job objectives. The hiring manager was keen to offer me the role, but his boss, the HOD, was not impressed. I received unusual feedback stating I was overqualified and wouldn't thrive in a less structured environment, and that I had spoken negatively about my previous employer, which is untrue.

It started with a really simple screening from HR/recruiter, just basic stuff like confirming my name and if I wanted to keep going. Then, the hiring manager did a deep dive into my resume, experience, motivation, and asked for STAR examples. After that, there were two more chats. These felt less like interviews and more like discussions about how awesome the company is, why I'd be a good fit, and why I'd enjoy working there. It was great to see them treat it as a two-way street and actively try to sell the company. They were also super responsive, with the longest wait time for a response being 4 days.

I was contacted by the recruitment team. The first step was a phone call with HR to talk about why I want the job, what I know about the company, and my background. After that, I had a video call with the hiring manager. We talked about my experience related to the job, my motivation, and what I know about the company and the industry. Honestly, it was a really bad experience because I had two interviews and then got absolutely no feedback, even after reaching out for an update months later.

I applied in late October and a week later we set up the phone screen. A week later, I had a one-hour phone interview with an engineering manager, followed by an onsite interview the next week. After that, I heard nothing for 6 months. I kept calling HR, my only contact, every 2-4 weeks, and they assured me it was looking good and that if they were going to decline me, it would have been done very early. In late March, HR called me back to say they needed me to do another phone interview with a new hire. I had already spent hours in October going onsite for an interview, and now they added this. The new hire was condescending during the call, and I realized during that call that this company had duped me and wasted my time. A few days after that phone interview, HR called to say they would not move forward with me. Extremely unprofessional company, especially the hiring manager who ghosted me for 6 months without explanation or apology. Stay away if you don't like wasting your time.
