Technical Support
Started with a phone call where they asked standard HR questions, then the next day there was a video interview that focused more on technical aspects. The technical questions weren't too tough, and we were told the topics in advance.
- Can you explain the differences between DSL, cable, and Fiber internet technologies?
Technical Support
I sent in my resume and then had a couple of brief phone calls with someone. It seemed to be going really well, and they even said I was a sure thing. We scheduled a video interview, but it turned out to be one of the most bizarre and unprofessional experiences I've ever had. The interviewer was 10 minutes late and just stared at me without saying anything when they finally showed up. They had a really unpleasant look on their face, and I knew right away that the job wasn't going to happen. Ironically, they said, "I'm glad we connected, sorry I was late." There was no introduction or apology. I turned away to send an email about the situation when they loudly cleared their throat and impatiently rushed through the rest of the interview. I asked a few standard questions because they seemed increasingly uncomfortable, so I let it go, and they quickly ended the video call. The whole video interview was less than 15 minutes. I was clean and dressed well, so I'm not sure what the issue was with the interviewer. Consider this a fair warning.
- Tell me about your hobbies?
Technical Support
I sent in my application online and then did the three tests they required (tech knowledge, typing, and internet speed). A few days later, a recruiter called me for a screening. It wasn't a real interview, she just briefly described the job, asked if I was okay with the many requirements, if I had any planned time off in the next 90 days (2 or more days), what hours (AM or PM) and how many hours (part-time or full-time) I wanted, and if I was good with either customer service or tech support. She then scheduled a Google hangout video interview for the following week with another recruiter. The video interview was about 15 minutes and had various questions, some tough. The interviewer was nice and professional. During the interview, the interviewer emailed me asking me to fill out a form for a background check, which I had to complete before ending the video call. Two days after the interview, I got another call offering me the job. So, it took exactly 2 weeks from applying to getting the offer. I started training the next Monday.
- Can you tell me something about yourself that might prevent me from hiring you?
- What is something that could potentially lead to your termination?
- What are the three essential elements for success in your life?
