The first interview went really well. I was told I'd hear back about the next steps within 2 days. I followed up, but after weeks passed, I checked my application status and saw it was closed. I get that companies sometimes change direction, but if you have an applicant portal, it seems like sending a simple auto TBNT email wouldn't be too hard. It was pretty disappointing.

I reached out via email with my resume and expressed my interest. Then, I received a call from the recruiter where we went over the responsibilities of the role and how the availability process works. We also talked about the onboarding process, my past work experience, and my personality. It seemed like a good fit, and I was subsequently sent an offer.

I had my initial screening with HR and it went fine, but then I had to interview with a contractor who was currently doing the job before I could even talk to the hiring manager. This contractor was really unprofessional. He took the call in his car and sounded distracted, and then halfway through he switched to his PC/video call. He was very blunt and not polite at all. He seemed annoyed that he even had to interview me. Sadly, the company really valued his opinion, and I never even got an email saying they decided to go another way. As someone who hires people often and has been interviewed a lot, that call was the worst I've ever had.

When I originally met with the recruiter, I was impressed by the process. They asked great questions, were informative, and seemed genuinely interested in making sure I had a good experience and was interviewing for the position that best aligned with my skills. The following interview also went well...but then radio silence. I attempted to follow up twice and never received a response. As the previous reviewer stated, I understand not moving forward, but a response to let me know I won't be doesn't seem like that much to ask.
