First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Omaha Public Schools.
Teacher
I sat down with the administrative team in a conference room and we talked about the role. They had some questions ready for me, and I also had some questions I'd prepared. They set aside a little bit of time at the end for me to ask them questions.
- What classroom engagement strategies would you implement?
Social Worker
It was a panel interview, so HR, the social work supervisor, and some school or program leadership were there. They all asked questions that they had decided on beforehand. The interview was about an hour long.
- What would be your approach if a teenage girl shared that she was pregnant?
Secondary Education Teacher
You will interview with the district first. Then you will have a follow-up interview or interviews with specific schools. This interview was with the principal and the curriculum head of the subject you teach. I student taught at the school I interviewed with. This made the process more comfortable as I knew the curriculum head well. I had also met the principal a couple of times.
- Can you rank the classes you want to teach in order?
Network Technician
The interview process was smooth and pleasant, directly addressing what was needed. It was good that the TAC team, whom I interact with regularly, conducted the interview. This is a great starting point for anyone seeking an entry-level role.
- Could you answer some basic questions about Windows management?
- Do you have experience with Active Directory?
- What do you know about DHCP?
