Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Oliver James.
Recruiter
The recruiter who interviewed me wasn't great. She missed our first scheduled call, apparently forgetting to mention she was out that day. We did eventually connect on Zoom, but she didn't follow up afterward. I felt the whole process with OJ was pretty lazy. As a recruiter, it's your job to keep in touch, even if the candidate isn't a good fit. I hope the person who interviewed me learns that professionalism is a two-way street in this process.
- What are you seeking in your next position?
- What would serve as motivation for you in a role such as this one?
Recruiter
The interviewers were really nice and helpful, giving me prep before the calls. There were quite a few steps, lots of calls and prep from different people, which felt like a bit much sometimes with some repeated info. Some questions I asked about the company in my second interview weren't fully answered or were dodged, which was a bit of a red flag, but maybe it was nothing. It did seem like the employees genuinely enjoyed their jobs and were passionate, which was a good sign.
- Tell me about a time you faced failure or rejection, and how you remained motivated to overcome it.
Recruiter
It was a 3 stage process with managers from different locations within the group. There was one video interview and two in-person ones. Pretty standard stuff for a recruitment agency, nothing too invasive or intense. The whole thing took place over three weeks.
- Can you tell me about your previous sales targets?
- What KPIs have you hit?
- What numbers have you achieved?
