Went through some online tests, covering math and coding. Then an HR chat that included some easy brain teasers. After that, onsite interviews which were tougher with brain teasers, a market making game, and a competitive game against other candidates. The last round was with a partner, focusing on general fit questions.

The company moved very fast. I first had a 1 hour phone interview that mostly focused on options theory, like greeks and early exercise. Then I went in person. I met with Joe, who seemed like a really good leader. He asked me about my trading background and my knowledge of the options market. I also spoke with the head developer, who asked some basic programming questions comparing different programming languages. About two days later, they scheduled a phone programming interview. Since I had Excel VBA on my resume, they asked me to program a hash table in VBA to link two large files. I explained my approach for doing it in Excel, but it wasn't suitable because the files were too big. After watching me struggle for 45 minutes with a task I never claimed I could do, the interview ended. I received a rejection email three days after that.

So, first there were 3 Quant phone interviews, then a programming assignment, and after that, a Superday in New York. The HR person kicked things off with the initial phone call. Then, I had two separate phone interviews with traders from Chicago. They hit me with a lot of mental math, probability, and programming questions. The mental math was tough because I couldn't use a pen and paper. The probability stuff was basic at first, but then they got into multi-part questions that needed breaking down, which was harder without writing things down. For programming, they asked things like the difference between Python and VBA, and also wanted algorithms and complexity analysis. After that, I had a friendly chat with a partner in NY about my resume, programming, and market making. Then came a take-home programming task, which was really open-ended. Once I finished that, I went to NY for an in-person interview. There, I did more programming tasks, market making exercises, and this really cool arbitrage strategy question. Got the offer 2 days later and my location in NY was finalized about a month later. The interviews were fair, everyone was super friendly and smart. I actually had a blast, way better than big banks!
