The application process was lengthy and felt awkward for an administrative role. This was followed by a long panel interview with about six people. After investing a lot of time in the application and interview stages, I didn't hear anything back from the district. I followed up via email to ask about the status of the process but never got a response.

I first spoke with two HR people and they gave me a temp contract, but I had to find a school first. Then I interviewed with administrators at three different schools. Two of the schools seemed nice and welcoming. The third administrator, though, I felt like she was looking down on me and thought I was wasting her time because I was a recent college grad. After those three interviews, I went back to the HR office and he asked me which school I liked best. I told him, and he said that was good because they want to hire me.

The interview process was formal, friendly, and the interviewer was well-prepared. They were personable and shared information about expectations for me and for building staff generally. We took a tour of the building, I was shown my workspace, and we discussed opportunities to volunteer, the local community, and different organizations the school district supports. We also talked about fund-raisers, the interviewer's approach to leadership development, and how my role could best serve both internal and external customers.

First I had a screening interview with the admin office, and then a principal interview with a team of teachers. They asked typical teacher questions about my experience, how I communicate with parents, and if I'm a team player. I got the job offer a few days after the final interview.
