The hiring manager was late for our initial meeting. Also, for a senior role, the interviewer wasn't prepared with questions or didn't understand the job requirements. The questions asked were more suited for an intern or junior position, focusing on minor execution details that would be handled by agencies, instead of strategic matters aligned with the job description. The topics jumped around, and it wasn't organized. I didn't think it would be successful and didn't follow up. It's a shame for such a well-known brand. HR sent generic emails about 16 weeks later, which is likely too late for anyone to still be interested.

My candidate experience was quite unacceptable. There were signs of disorganization throughout, but I wanted to give the company the benefit of the doubt because I really liked the people I interviewed with. I made it to the final round and somehow, I was mistakenly offered the job. The recruiter even talked about salary and when I would start. But then, just a day later, I got a call saying they were offering the job to someone else, even though they had already verbally offered it to me. They didn't really explain why the mistake happened or take much responsibility. I feel every candidate deserves to be treated with a basic level of respect and professionalism, which I think I didn't get. I hope Olaplex improves its hiring processes so that other candidates don't have to go through the same confusing experience I did.

After networking and applying online, a recruiter reached out for a video interview. During the interview, I learned the position was different from the job posting, even though the title was the same. The role and responsibilities weren't what was advertised. Some duties they mentioned for the new role actually belonged to other positions. I was told by Recruiting I'd hear back by the end of the week, but instead, I got a generic decline email a few days later. The whole thing could have been handled better, from the job description to the interview and follow-up.

First, I spoke with an internal recruiter, which was pretty standard. They asked about my motivation for seeking a new role and this specific position. It seemed important to have concise answers ready because she was taking detailed notes that she'd use to summarize my hiring 'case.' Then, I had a follow-up with the hiring manager, and the questions were essentially the same.
