Behavioral Technical

I recently interviewed with the Oklahoma Blood Research Center for a Research Assistant role. The process was pretty organized and professional. First, I had a phone screening with HR that was pretty basic, just asking about my background and when I could start. Then, I went in for an in-person panel interview with the actual research team. They were nice and made it feel comfortable. They asked a lot of technical questions about lab stuff, how to analyze data, and my past research. They also asked some behavioral questions to see how I work with others and handle problems. Some of the technical questions were really specific, especially about blood analysis methods, so having done that kind of work before was helpful. The interviewers were clear about what the job involves and chances for growth. They also told me when to expect to hear back, which was good. It felt like a fair and thorough process, and I got a good feel for how serious they are about research. The only small issue was waiting a bit longer than expected for feedback, but they did let me know their decision in the end, professionally. If you're interviewing here, I'd suggest brushing up on your technical knowledge and having examples ready to show how you collaborate.

HR reached out for an initial phone call. It was a group interview with about 5-6 people from the IT department, including the manager, computer technicians, and a system analyst. The interview was straightforward, covering basic resume questions and HR topics like relocation willingness. Within a week, I was invited for an onsite interview and shown my potential workspace. The onsite interview was also quite easy, focusing on fundamental show commands used in networking, alongside resume-based and HR questions concerning motivation for the role and contributions to the team, with an emphasis on long-term commitment.

Behavioral Other

The initial interview was great and the manager was very approachable and direct. The second interview with the operations director also seemed positive, and I thought she was impressed with me. As I was leaving, the operations manager indicated I pretty much had the job. However, the next day, I was informed I didn't get the position because I was truthful during the interview. It seems they prefer dishonesty, which might explain their high manager turnover.

Got the call for an interview super fast, like within a week of applying. It was a panel interview, so a bunch of people were there. They were really professional and seemed to know their stuff. The hiring manager was really straight with me about what the job entails, the hours, and the benefits. Everyone on the staff was really nice.
