& Process

It started with an editing and proofreading task, pretty standard and took under an hour. Then I had a couple of interviews with the team. They were pretty basic, questions were what I expected. Didn't get to the next stage though. The whole thing was pretty normal, and the people were professional.

I applied online and then got a call asking if I'd be up for a Hacker Rank challenge to see if they'd want to bring me in for an in-person interview. I didn't feel like I nailed it, but they invited me anyway! The interviewer showed me around the office, pointing out where people work, the kitchen, and the game room. It was cool to see they had dual monitors for everyone, and the whole vibe felt really nice.

The interview kicked off with an intro to the company and the role. Then, we dove into typical behavioral questions, though one was a bit odd – the Burger question. It seemed designed for you to admit fault, even when the scenario pointed to the company being responsible. The discussion ended up focusing on accepting blame and taking responsibility. After that, came the coding questions. I was given a piece of paper to handwrite the code. Oddly, they didn't have pencils, and I only had a pen. To top it off, they talked, joked, and moved things around to simulate a busy office. It was quite stressful, handwriting code with a pen while three people chatted and waited. I struggled with some of the code and never heard back, so I assume I didn't get the job.

The interview was about 1.5 hours long and included behavioral questions, some easy technical ones, and a live coding task. The recruiter contacted me a few days later to ask about my residence permit and then stopped responding.
