During my university studies placement search, Oh Polly's assessment centre was my first and it was amazing! The talent manager Kelly McDonald made us all feel really welcome and relaxed, encouraging us to just be ourselves. The day involved ice breaker tasks, a group activity, a written test, and a one-on-one interview. Afterwards, I got a tour of the office, which was incredible! This experience really helped me develop skills for future interviews and I enjoyed networking with different people.

Applied online and the whole thing took over 6 weeks. About 2 weeks after applying, I got a task to do, which I finished and sent back in 48 hours. Then, another 2+ weeks went by before they finally asked for a phone interview, which I did the same day. The questions were super weird, more like a focus group or market research than a real interview. They asked stuff like who would be the best Love Islander for an Oh Polly campaign or the reputation differences between their brands. It really felt like a marketing call. A week later, I was invited to a final online interview (not in the office). It had a lot of the same marketing questions and felt off, like they'd already decided. What was worse is they said I'd hear back in a few days, but it's been 3 weeks and still nothing. Terrible hiring process, which is a shame because the company has potential.

I applied online and then got invited to the office for some customer query testing. They emailed me on Monday to check my availability for the week. I replied the same day and said I could come in on Thursday or Friday. I didn't hear back until Thursday morning. They asked if it wasn't too late and if I could come in that day or Friday instead. You can wear casual clothes and don't need ID. They put you in a small room with a laptop and give you 60 minutes to answer a few customer query questions. There are different scenarios where a customer has asked something online or is complaining, and you have to write a response. Since it's an online role, your spelling and grammar need to be perfect, and your answers should sound really friendly. They give you examples to help you understand how to answer and let you use their website to find information on policies for your responses. I was told I'd hear back the same day or the next day about moving on. I never heard back. I thought about chasing it up but decided against it because their communication was so poor throughout. The customer service manager emailed me about the interview and told me to ask for her when I arrived, but a customer service assistant collected me, gave me instructions, and saw me out. I didn't meet the manager or anyone else.

Behavioral Technical

The hiring process was a bit all over the place. The HR people couldn't really nail down what the job was about, we had to wait till the interviews to get the real picture, which was a waste of time. Some of the questions asked were kinda messed up, like asking about my age and if I had a family, and other weird comments. Also, a bunch of the interviewers seemed totally burnt out and said they had way too much work, so it makes you wonder about the whole work-life balance thing. On the plus side, the team itself seemed pretty cool and worked well together.
