First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Offit Kurman.
Paralegal
I was so excited to get an offer from Offit Kurman because it seemed like a great career move. After I accepted, I quit my old job and turned down another offer. But then, just two days later, Offit Kurman took back the offer because of a reference issue. When I checked with my references, they said nobody from the firm ever called them, and my background check was never even done. It was super disappointing and upsetting, especially since I'd already made big life changes based on the offer. I really think they should finish all reference and background checks *before* giving an offer. I hope Offit Kurman will look at their hiring process and make it better so future candidates get treated more openly and with more respect.
- Describe your ideal paralegal and their necessary qualifications.
Manager
They called me first, then I met with the hiring manager and some of the team members. Everything was pretty smooth and they kept me updated. After the interviews, they made an offer, but it was pending a background check.
- Can you share some of your past accomplishments?
- Describe a time you had to handle a challenging interaction with an attorney.
Marketing Director
Had nice one-on-one chats with two of the firm's top admin execs. Was short on time, and they each asked about their own specific experiences and work styles. Both gave a good sense of the company's exciting path forward.
- Can you tell me about your past experience leading a team?
- What are your strategies for motivating team members and ensuring they use their best skills?
Associate Attorney
I was contacted directly by the Director of Recruitment about an Associate Attorney job in Bethesda. After a quick call, I had a video interview with the Practice Group Director. They told me I'd next interview with a Principal Attorney who's also the Chair of my Practice Group, and I spoke with them for about an hour. Then, two other Principal Attorneys interviewed me. The final interview was with the firm's Managing Principal, Tim Lynch. I got the offer the day after that.
- Can you start by telling me about yourself?
- What prompted your interest in this specific practice area?
- Could you share your billable hours?
