First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Office of Inspector General United States Postal Service.
Executive Assistant
Went through a very formal process, including a 30-minute panel interview where they asked questions directly related to the skills on the job description.
- Can you describe your past experience using Excel?
- How have you utilized Adobe Acrobat previously?
Special Agent
I applied on USA JOBS and after about a 2 month wait, I had a panel interview with ASAC, DSAC, and SAC. It was done via video because of Covid and travel. The interview itself was fair and professional. I got an offer a week later.
- Can you give an example of a case you worked on?
- How have you handled relationships with other agencies?
- What is your experience working on teams?
Researcher
So the first step was a phone interview with the exec team. Then, like a month or two later, I had a second interview where I met people from all the different teams at USPS-OIG. They told me about what their teams do and the projects they work on. They asked me questions about my qualifications, like my experience and my academic background. Towards the end, they asked which team I thought would be a good fit for me.
- Can you describe your experience with event organization?
Attorney
It's a typical federal agency interview. They ask all candidates the same set of ten or eleven questions. Three interviewers ask questions one after another. It's not too hard, but doesn't really show who people are or what they can do. The interview takes about 30-40 minutes. Getting the offer took months.
- Can you talk about a challenge you encountered and how you dealt with it?
