First, there was a quick chat with the recruiter to see if I was a good fit and what I was looking for. Then, I had a whiteboarding session, followed by questions about my previous projects and how I've worked with others and across different teams.
- Can you share your experience collaborating with product managers and engineers?
- Can you tell me about your previous work experience?
- Tell me about your experience with collaboration.

The interview process started with a recruiter call where I got rave reviews. Next, I had an interview with the local manager, which also went very well. The third stage involved a valuation test where I had to assess 5 properties. The challenge was that I was given no information about the properties and very little detail on their condition after remodeling. After completing this test, I heard nothing back. The recruiter and manager who were initially so enthusiastic stopped responding to calls, texts, and emails. A couple of months later, I realized Offerpad was using my property valuations to price their homes. It seems Offerpad might not have enough consistent work in certain markets to hire full-time employees with benefits, so they use this approach to get free work. The job posting in my area has been up for at least 4 months. I strongly advise against providing them with free work and recommend looking elsewhere.
- Can you tell me about yourself and what makes you interested in this job?
- Could you perform a valuation test on five properties, given that you'll receive no details about them and only limited information about their post-remodel condition?

After submitting my application, a recruiter from Offerpad reached out after a couple of weeks. The first chat was about 30 minutes, just a get-to-know-you, and we went over my resume. The recruiter seemed really positive, saying I fit what they needed and could even get the top pay. Right after, they set up another 30-minute Zoom/Teams interview with the regional director for the next day. That also went great. Then, the recruiter called back saying there was one more step: a take-home assignment. I was given 5 properties and two hours to figure out their current value and what they'd be worth in two months. They didn't give any info on rehab or how to even do the analysis. I did the assignment on time. They said they'd review it and get back to me ASAP. But then... radio silence. I emailed both the recruiter and director, and texted the recruiter too, all expressing interest. No response. About a week and a half later, I called the recruiter. He seemed surprised and his whole vibe changed. He said he'd talk to the director in the next 30 minutes and call me back right after. Nothing. Ghosted again. It felt really weird, especially when I saw another review online from someone with the exact same experience for an Acquisition job at Offerpad. It seems they have us do this analysis work on their properties, and then they just disappear.

Acquisitions Director
A recruiter contacted me to set up an interview. The first part was with two recruiters, where we discussed job expectations and qualifications for about an hour. Next, I took the Predictive Index assessment and then had an interview with the two managers, who seemed very disengaged. This also lasted about an hour and covered similar ground regarding expectations for the role. They asked about my underwriting process and basic property pricing and company culture strategies. Following that, there was an assessment where I had two hours to evaluate five properties, determining their current worth and their potential worth after an 'average' rehab, though the rehab details and their specific metrics were unclear. This felt like a formality or perhaps free work. After submitting this assessment, I received no further communication despite reaching out via phone, email, and voicemail. The company appears disorganized and lacks clarity on desired employee traits. I probably wouldn't have accepted an offer anyway.
- Can you explain your method for determining property value?
- What are the key factors that make a comparable sale strong?
- How have you handled situations involving employee adversity?
