Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Odessa.
Business Analyst
It was a 3-stage process. The first interview was with a SVP, followed by an interview with HR. The final round was with the VP I'd be reporting to. I got the offer about a week after the last interview.
- Can you explain the software implementation process?
- What distinguishes a lease from a loan?
- Walk me through the lease origination process.
Business Analyst
My experience interviewing with Odessa has been extensive, with cycles in 2016 and again in 2018/19. A few things stood out, which I consider red flags. Firstly, they seem to be constantly looking for people, likely due to high employee turnover. Secondly, the hiring team struggles with coordination and process management, often leading to waits of at least an hour past scheduled interview times. I opted out both times because my time is valuable, unlike what Odessa seemed to think of interviewees' time. Thirdly, the product appears to be in a perpetual state of disarray. It's unclear why they expect Business Analysts to have accounting knowledge (essentially hiring CAs). They used to state this requirement upfront, but I suspect it deterred candidates, so they stopped mentioning it. I personally declined to proceed with the process four to five times because of this specific expectation.

Functional Analyst
The interview process started with a Group Discussion (GD) which was pretty easy for me as our topic was on ethics. However, some friends found their topics complicated and didn't make it. The next round was a Test for Analytical Thinking (TAT), and it was tough; many who passed the GD didn't clear this. It needed a lot of imagination and concept presentation. After that, there were two personal interviews at their Bangalore office: one with HR, which was tricky with many questions, and then a final interview with the COO.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What are the formulas for various ratios?
- Can you explain important financial concepts?
