First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at ODEON Cinemas Group.
Cinema Host
We started with a group interview where everyone introduced themselves and shared their favorite movie. After that, we were split into smaller groups to brainstorm and design a meal deal, covering aspects like its name, price, and contents. This was followed by individual one-on-one interviews. We then heard back via email a couple of days later regarding our hiring status.
- Could you please introduce yourself and mention your favorite film?
- Let's work together to design a meal deal - what should it be called, how much should it cost, and what items should it include?
Cinema Host
I applied and heard back a week or two later for a quick phone interview. Then I was invited to a group interview. My group was small, but I've seen larger ones. We answered a bunch of questions and also took some time to get to know each other. After that, it broke into individual interviews. About a week later, I got contacted about the job.
- What would be your approach if a guest experienced an upsetting situation?
- Can you share instances where you've managed comparable situations in the past?
Host
It's a really straightforward and simple interview. You can expect some basic questions about customer service, and possibly a scenario where you need to figure out how to prioritize different tasks. They really want to know if you can handle working in a busy setting and if you'll keep yourself occupied during slower periods.
- What is your availability like?
- Are you able to work late shifts to cover a full closing period?
Cinema Host
We were a big group, around 30-40 people, and taken into a cinema screen room. Started with ice breakers. First, we stood up, said our name, fav film and why. Then we did 2 group activities: one was items for a desert island and the other was to create a new product. It's important to speak up and contribute to the group for the next stage. We were then split into two groups. One group went to the interviews, the other went home (these people didn't contribute as much or were more nervous). Then we went in one by one for the interview, and the questions were pretty irrelevant to the role. They said we'd hear back within 24 hours to see if we got the role.
- Tell us about your first cinema visit and what made it memorable.
- What are your thoughts on our current product range and what product would you introduce?
- If you could have a superpower for this job, what would you choose and why?
