Software Engineer
So the whole process was pretty standard. Started with a phone screen, then went to about 6 on-site interviews. These included 3 technical ones, one for system design, a behavioural one, and then a lunch interview. After that, there was a demo round. The interviews were 45 minutes each, which was a bit tight for asking questions, except for the lunch interview with the hiring manager. Everyone seemed happy and the whole process felt well-planned. I got a callback two days after the interviews with an offer. We negotiated and agreed on a good salary, and I got the written offer a few days later. I also got to speak with the hiring manager and a team member to ask more questions, which the recruiter set up. I ended up declining because I had another opportunity, but the compensation and people were great. The recruiters were super responsive, not slow at all like some reviews mentioned.
- Were there any Leetcode style questions?
- Were there questions specific to my background?
- Can you elaborate on the skills mentioned in my resume?

Oculus recruiting is slow, taking weeks between contacts. I usually had to send a reminder email to get updates. It took months and three phone screens before I was invited to an onsite. The onsite was tough but fair, though one interviewer asked an outdated question. After the interview, it took four weeks and another reminder for them to send an emailed rejection, which felt less courteous than a phone call.
- Can you tell me about your biggest weakness?
Software Engineer
I had a really bad interview experience at Oculus for a Senior Software Engineer job. They reached out about the role ten weeks ago. Six weeks back, I did two full days of onsite interviews. Last week, they called saying an offer was in the works. But today, they said I need more coding interviews even though I already did like ten of them plus my phone screens during the onsite. It's been a mess with five different recruiters. Seriously disorganized and not a good experience. It's crazy to ask for more interviews after two full onsite days, and even crazier after saying an offer is coming.
