People Operations Associate
They told me how quickly they wanted to move through the process and get this role filled during every call. At first, it seemed like they meant it because after my first three calls, I was immediately moved to the next stage. But then it took two days to schedule the next call because their only recruiter is in India, and our schedules were polar opposite. Then the call would sometimes be 4 or 5 days later. Most of the time I had to reach out myself to ask for an update because I wouldn’t hear back for a week or longer. All this time I was told I was still being considered but they had other things happening at Ocrolus and would get back to me next week. I started interviewing in mid-September for this 'urgently needed' role. After TWO MORE WEEKS of radio silence, I had to reach out AGAIN and finally got a very impersonal email saying they chose another candidate. It took THREE MONTHS of this email tag.

- What is your approach to the employee experience?
Forward Deployed Engineer Lead
The interview process for the Lead Forward Deployed Engineer role was quite messy and not well-structured. The first two rounds were just behavioral screenings, which felt like a waste of time for a senior technical role. The initial recruiter call was basically a vibe check and didn't really assess technical or strategic skills. This was followed by a behavioral interview with the Hiring Manager. Since it's a leadership role needing technical strategy, it's weird that there was no technical discussion in the first two hours, showing a bad screening process. What really frustrated me was the lack of communication after the second round. Even though they confirmed I was moving to the technical stage, nothing happened for over two weeks. It turned out the Hiring Manager didn't do the internal hand-off before going on vacation. This organizational failure was disrespectful to a senior candidate's time and led me to withdraw my application. It seems like there's a big disconnect between the hiring team and Talent Acquisition, which is a bad sign for how things work internally.
- Regarding your daily tasks, do you incorporate AI, and if so, could you explain how?
Software Engineer Intern
There will be an interview with most of the questions based on the assignment and some related to your resume. After that, you'll go through the manager round, half an hour, project discussion and company introduction etc.. nothing much. (So, no DSA for interns)
- How would you implement soft-delete?
- How would you add a new endpoint in the backend?
Senior Software Engineer - Backend
My interview process at Ocrolus had four rounds. First, a Technical Round where I got questions on detecting cycles in a linked list, SQL queries, and building a basic job scheduler. Then, a System Design round which felt a bit unrealistic, like they expected 15+ years of experience even though I have ~5 years. They asked deep-dive questions about RabbitMQ, Celery, and their internals. In the last 15 minutes, they suddenly asked me to design Uber and explain its architecture, which felt rushed and unproductive. Throughout, HR kept saying they 'hire only top talent from good companies,' which sounded like showing off.
- Can you detect cycling in a linked list?
