Behavioral Technical Presentation

There was no initial phone screen. The first interview was a 1.5-hour virtual meeting with two HR team members. A few days later, I was told I'd also have to meet with the CEO and COO. There wasn't a clear interview guide or specific questions tied to the role's duties. About a week after that, I was informed I also needed to meet with the COO, who was sick on the day I was supposed to meet the CEO; the earliest available slot was two weeks later. This interview didn't involve questions about the role itself but was more of a discussion. It seemed like they were restructuring and unsure if this position was meant to be a Recruiting Manager, Partnership Manager, or Retention Programs Manager – all roles that Oceanit seems to need urgently. The idea that 'loyalty' alone should be a reason for employees to stay, without competitive market pay or good retirement benefits, is a flawed perspective. I followed up by email five days later. A full week went by before the COO responded to reject me. I haven't heard back from HR since my initial interview with the CEO.

Behavioral Technical Coding

Started with HR to chat about my background and what I'm looking for in software dev. Then had a deeper talk with a scientist about the specific field I'm applying for. Finished up with a coding problem. The whole thing was pretty straightforward. The main part was definitely the chat with the scientists; they really wanted to see passion for the subject. Be real - if you're unsure, say you're guessing because they're smart and will know if you're faking it.

Behavioral Technical

First, I had a phone call with HR where she asked about my background, education, and employment status. After that, I had to complete an application with my personal details for the role. Later, HR set up a Zoom interview for me via email. This interview was a panel discussion with HR and a technical manager.

I got a phone interview and said yes. In the phone interview, there was no technical lead. For the whole hour, someone new came in every 15 minutes, and I had to reintroduce myself and answer the same questions again. Then the HR person sent a reference check to my 3 contacts. Weeks later, I found out I wasn't being considered because I don't have a PhD, which they knew before. It was a waste of time for everyone.
