First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Obie.
Customer Service Representative
The interview process had three stages. The first was a 30-minute interview with Mary, who was incredibly kind and welcoming. After that, you complete a short assessment, which was very straightforward. If the hiring manager likes your responses, you move on to a second interview with the customer service manager and a supervisor. The final step is a third interview with several members of the team. Everyone I interacted with was genuinely kind and encouraging throughout the entire process. Communication was consistent, and everything moved fairly quickly for me—about a week and a half. You can really tell they care about who they bring onto their team.
- What sparked your interest in joining Obie?
Account Executive
It was a 3-step process. Started with a screening phone interview with HR, then an in-person one-on-one with the direct reporting manager, and finished with a panel interview with the executive team. The process was relevant and friendly, and it did a good job of showcasing the company's strengths and the role, while also assessing if I was a good fit. They kept me updated every step of the way.
- How do you handle receiving direct feedback?
Customer Service Manager
I had a 30-minute chat with the recruiter, who was really nice and gave me a lot of good info. Then I talked to the hiring manager for about an hour. They were also really friendly and super open about everything. They went into a lot of detail about the role, which totally fits with my skills and the fact that I've been doing this for over ten years, especially with their CRM/SaaS stuff. It seemed like it went pretty well, and I got my hopes up thinking I'd be a perfect fit given what they need and what I can do. So, it was a huge bummer when I didn't get the job. I sent a thank you email to Obie, but they just replied that I didn't get chosen for the next stage. Honestly, I don't think I'd bother applying to Obie again; it feels like too much effort for a long shot. It felt like a waste of my time, and I could have ended up wasting even more.
- What are your strategies for managing a team member who isn't performing well?
- Could you explain how you would communicate and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)?
Software Engineer
The interview process involved 3 rounds spread across two weeks. It started with an informal chat about your background and career goals, and how they align with Obie's goals in the CRE industry. Then, there was a technical round-table with two directors. They asked open-ended questions to gauge your understanding of the software ecosystem and your problem-solving approach. After that, you'd get a take-home assignment that was based on a real technical challenge Obie faced. You might also be asked to refactor parts of the project and explain your choices for design and tools.
- If a customer complains about application performance, what steps would you take to diagnose and resolve the issue?
