The interview felt rushed and transactional, with the interviewer seeming insincere and disinterested. I was told early on that we needed to "move this along" to get to the next interview, which set the tone. The questions were straightforward, but there were no follow-ups or opportunities to expand, making it hard to gauge engagement. I was prepared and eager for a meaningful discussion, but I felt I didn't get a real chance to show my fit. The interviewer didn't seem to be paying attention, and the interaction felt one-sided and predetermined. The lack of genuine dialogue made it hard to see the interview as a fair or thorough assessment.

My first interview was a phone screen with a woman. She talked about "diversity" a lot right at the start. She's of African descent. When I asked her about her favorite part of the company culture, she said "diversity." When I asked about her favorite part of her job, she also said "diversity." I felt like she wasn't going to give me a chance because I'm a white male and she's racist. She burped loudly and took a phone call during the interview without apologizing. It was extremely unprofessional and rude. I don't think this company will do well with people like that. Good luck, Oatey!

I spoke with the recruiter and hiring manager first. Then I had an in-person panel interview in Cleveland. It was a very respectable process, and it's great they're still doing in-person interviews with all the remote tech available.

Got contacted for a phone interview, but the recruiter sounded confused. Tracked down HR, sent my resume and salary requirements. Had a phone interview with HR, asked basic pre-screening questions, with a lot of focus on smoking and drug use. Then had a group interview with C.S. super, Director, and HR, with basic open ended questions. They pulled me aside afterward and said they were screening for 'drama queens'. After assuring them I was stable, I had a third interview with a series of directors and decision makers that lasted 4.5 hours. Then I was interviewed by Sales Managers, product managers, directors, an attorney, and HR again, who all asked similar basic questions. Two weeks later, I had a fourth interview with the Customer Service Manager, focused on workflow and systems at my current job. I told her the info was proprietary, so she ended it. The next day, HR called for a fifth interview, a lunch date. We met at Oatey, then went to a local bar where 3 customer service reps, their supervisor, and the director grilled me about my current job and its systems. I skirted the questions, finished lunch, and left. On the way out, I asked the Director about compensation, and she said it would be available upon an offer. That was my last communication. It felt like they were fact-finding or probing for business tips. VERY SHADY.
