First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at OANDA.
Data Analyst
The hiring manager seemed to lack understanding of data-related tasks. They expected a specific answer that turned out to be incorrect upon later verification. I was told I might not enjoy the role, which raises questions about their ability to gauge my preferences. This was the second instance of my time being wasted with this company, and I strongly advise against applying to the Krakow office.
- Can you explain the theoretical analysis for calculating the number of daily customers?
SEO Manager
I applied through their careers site on Greenhouse, which was a smooth process. After about a month with no word, I reached out to the talent acquisition lead who posted the job on LinkedIn. Two weeks later, he replied and we set up a screening call for the next day. The call went well; the talent manager from Canada was really nice and did a great job explaining the company and the position. He did most of the talking in the 40-minute call, leaving me about ten minutes to introduce myself and ask questions. It's now been three months since that call, and I've heard nothing back despite sending several follow-up emails.
- Tell me about yourself.
- Do you have any questions about the role?
Client Services
The process started with a phone interview where common questions like 'why OANDA' and 'tell me more about yourself' were asked. The HR person was nice, and the interview wasn't stressful. I was then invited for an onsite interview with the manager. HR said they'd let me know the results by the end of the week, no matter what. I never heard back and followed up with an email, but got no response. The job was reposted a week later, so I guess I didn't get it. It's a shame because if you meet someone in person, you'd expect at least a rejection email. It seems like this is typical for the Toronto office based on other interviews here.
- Can you tell me more about yourself?
- Tell me about your career goals.
Project Manager
I applied on their website and heard back from the in-house Recruiter at OANDA Corporation via email. She set up a 40-minute call, and we had a good chat. She then scheduled an interview for the following week. I met with two project managers from the team. About three weeks later, the recruiter emailed me, stating that while I might be a better fit for their Product team given my career goals, the Project Manager role wasn't the right match, which was accurate.
- How do you handle conflicts among developers?
- Can you describe a significant accomplishment of yours?
