General Manager
I interviewed for a GM position and it seemed to be going well. However, about 45 minutes in, the manager had to ask what I was interviewing for. I was surprised when he said they didn't actually have that position open, even though I had applied the night before and he called me the very next morning. He did offer me a sales position on the spot and was polite and listened, saying I could be moved up sooner rather than later. I mentioned I had another interview the next morning, and he told me to take the weekend (it was Thursday) and call him Monday. I called on Saturday and Monday to accept, but I never heard back from him. I'm not sure what happened, but it felt very unprofessional to bait and switch the position and then ghost me after I accepted.
- What is your biggest fear
Membership Consultant
I applied online and also in person. It took a few days, but then I got a call to schedule an interview. I went in for the first interview, and it was with the General Manager at the specific location. It lasted about 30 minutes. The Regional Manager happened to be there too, so I met them at the end of my interview just to introduce myself. They mentioned I'd have another interview with the Regional Manager, but only two days later, I got a call offering me the job. I accepted and started the next week.
- How do you handle rejection?
- Could you describe the sales process and your typical day in your previous or current role?
- What strategies would you use to increase guest traffic?
Personal Trainer
First I had an in person interview. It seemed mostly to get to know me as a person, like what I liked doing outside of work, what are my life goals and how will I achieve them, and what would me dream life/job be, if money weren't part of the question. Then a phone interview with the regional director, mainly questions about how I would interact with clients. Then case studies sent to me to complete.
- Tell me about yourself and who you are outside of your career and education.
- Describe your dream job or life if financial considerations were not a factor.
- What action would you take if a client informed you that they had not consumed any food all day?
Sales Consultant
I sat in with both the general manager and the fitness director. They asked me a bunch of questions about my personality and my work habits and history. They also asked how my previous knowledge would help me in the new position and how my outlook on the fitness industry applied.
- What makes you stand out from other candidates?
- How would your past experience be beneficial for this role?
- How does your perspective on the fitness industry relate to this job?
