Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at O'Melveny & Myers.
Associate
The interview process involved an initial screener followed by a callback. I withdrew my application after the callback because the office felt too large and impersonal. The interviews were standard, with no unexpected questions. The lawyers were approachable, professional, and communicated promptly. Overall, the communication throughout the process was good.
- Could you explain your interest in OMM?
- Which practice area are you interested in?
Summer Associate
I was invited to the office for interviews and met with several attorneys. I was given a schedule outlining who I would meet and in what order. The atmosphere was pretty relaxed. I spoke with about 5 to 7 attorneys, all with different levels of experience.
- What makes you want to join this firm?
- Do you prefer litigation or transactional roles?

I got this interview through my school's system. The interviewers seemed bored and didn't really seem to think I was serious. They asked pretty basic questions like why I chose law school and why I applied here, but they weren't really listening to my responses.
- Can you explain your interest in our firm?
- What about this specific office location appeals to you?
- What motivated you to pursue law school?
