First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at O'Kelley & Sorohan.
Pre Closer
The interview was very short. They asked typical questions about real estate. I could tell they were not very open to a diverse staff, because as soon as I started talking, they kind of brushed me off.
- What motivates you to pursue a career as a pre-closer?
Front Desk Receptionist
They asked some basic questions and asked me what area I wanted to work in and told me about the company. O'Kelly was relaxed and cool, she made the interview not so bad.
- What would you be if you could be anything in this world?
Attorney
There were 2 interviews. The first was with attorneys from the local office. The second was with those same local attorneys and also a managing attorney from another office. The first interview was mostly about my experience and some basic things about the job. The second interview felt more like it was about personality and if I would be a good fit. It's super important to know why you want to work there, like, really specific reasons. Everyone was nice, even the staff.
- How would you handle it if you discovered a mistake that negatively impacts the client?
- What are your specific reasons for wanting to join this particular firm?
Pre-closer
The interview started 20 minutes late even though I arrived 10 minutes early with my resume and certificates, dressed professionally. The interviewer didn't ask any questions about my skills or professional experience. Instead, I was asked about my movie preferences, celebrity choices, and how friends would describe me. These questions seemed irrelevant to the job. I tried to steer the conversation back to my skills and the position when asked if I had questions. I felt my time was wasted and didn't expect a callback because we talked more about movies and celebrities than my resume. It was surprising these personality questions were asked in the very first interview.
- What movie would you watch forever?
- Which celebrity actress is most like you?
- How would your friends describe you?
