First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at O’Hagan Meyer.
Billing Clerk
Had a pre-screen chat on Wednesday where they went over my resume and set up an interview for Thursday with the Billing department manager. The interviewer was running a lot of interviews back-to-back, so mine started a bit late. She mentioned she'd been there 7 months and was looking for someone who'd fit the team culture. She said there'd be a second chat with another accounting manager for their input and that I'd definitely hear back by Monday. I followed up on Tuesday, and finally got a rejection email on Thursday.
- Would you be comfortable with a hybrid schedule after an initial 60-day period in the office?
Intern
It was a really chill interview over zoom. I spoke with two partners, and they were super relaxed and happy to answer anything I asked. It felt more like a chat than a formal interview. It was about 30 minutes long and I had a great time. It was pretty casual.
- What makes you interested in Chicago?
- What is your motivation for pursuing law?
- Why did you choose our firm?
Litigation Paralegal
The interview process was very brief, involving two attorneys and HR. It was scheduled for 30 minutes but likely lasted around 15-20 minutes. They inquired about my background and experience, and then I had the opportunity to ask questions. It was a very straightforward and comfortable conversation, getting straight to the point. I felt I gained a solid understanding of the firm. The only slightly uncomfortable aspect was encountering another candidate interviewing for the same role in the lobby.
- Can you describe your current work responsibilities?
Law Clerk
They started by giving a brief overview of the firm's work and the compensation. Then they asked about my interest in the firm, followed by questions about difficult advocacy situations (detailed below) and a recent book I read.
- Can you share an instance where you had to champion a viewpoint you didn't personally agree with, keeping in mind our firm's focus on defense-side employment litigation?
