I had prepared for my interview for the Information Technology Specialist 2 Programming role. However, on the day of the interview, the interviewer canceled it just a few hours before it was scheduled. This was very unprofessional and inconvenient.

- Isn't it super unprofessional to cancel an interview on the day of and then require candidates to fill out a form from HR confirming they are no longer interested, with penalties for not doing so, which affects future opportunities with the agency? It seems like a really corrupt way of hiring people. Why should people be made to fill out that type of form when your hiring team is canceling the interview on the day of without any consideration or respect for my time?

It involved two interviews and several document submissions. Since it was a civil service position, there were various forms to complete and multiple managers to meet with. The whole bureaucratic process took almost six months. The final offer was much lower than what was advertised.

I applied through a consulting agency. It took about 10 days to get the email to schedule an interview which I scheduled for next week. The interview is generally very simple and will ask you on the basic skills needed to do the job. No coding sessions though! They will basically score you on how much of the experience you have in a particular technology. The interview runs about 30 minutes. After the interview you will be contacted whether you are selected for the job which took about two weeks. After confirming the position you will go through a background check which will take about 1-2 months.
