The process started with an easy phone call with a friendly recruiter. The next step was an onsite interview which involved presenting an analysis I was given a week to complete. Instructions for the analysis were minimal, and the hiring manager expected a prepared PowerPoint presentation, which I hadn't created. We discussed my findings, and he seemed impressed. For the next 1.5 hours, I met with other team members, and it seemed to go well. After leaving, it took two weeks for the recruiter to respond to my emails, and when she did, it was to inform me that the job had been offered to someone else and they'd forgotten to follow up.

Behavioral Case Presentation

I was contacted by a Nursa recruiter about the position, and the timing was perfect due to recent tech layoffs. After a good initial chat with the recruiter, I spoke with a C-suite executive who was the hiring manager. This conversation really sold me on Nursa, the role, and the industry, making me eager to get this job. I then worked on a case study, which was more about strategy and creative thinking than hard numbers. The final stage involved meeting more executives at Nursa’s beautiful HQ in Salt Lake City. The office had amazing views. I presented my case study to the same executives I'd met with earlier. Two of them even took me to lunch and drove me to the airport afterward. I received an offer not long after and accepted.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

So my interview process was a few steps: first, a recruiter called me, then I spoke with the Hiring Manager about fit, and finally, I met with a Director of Product Management (who would have been my direct report if I'd joined) for a deep dive on my qualifications. After all that, they said I'd hear back in about a week, but I never did, even after emailing the recruiter a bunch. I ended up emailing the Hiring Manager directly to pull out because they were so unresponsive, and that didn't get a reply either. It was a bummer about the communication, but honestly, I'm glad to be done with a place that clearly doesn't respect a candidate's time.

Technical Case Presentation

I applied on the website and was iffy about continuing because of the case study, but I went ahead with it. The initial screen was easy, the Excel test was basic, and talking to the hiring manager was straightforward. The main hurdle was the case study, which involved a free brainstorming session on improving the market and product. The presentation is recorded, and you have to discuss the work you'd do if hired, which felt like a major red flag. After the presentation, I didn't get the job and received a standard rejection email. It would have been fine, but there was no feedback at all, and the team didn't respond when I asked for it. Considering the whole lengthy process and the case study, the least they could do is offer feedback to candidates who complete it. Ironically, even though they ignored my feedback request, I got an email asking for my feedback on their hiring process and to review them on Glassdoor. The interview stages included a recruiter phone screen, a HackerRank Excel skills test, a hiring manager interview, and finally, a recorded presentation about the current market.
