First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at NuOrder.
Product Manager
I went through 4 interview rounds with NuORDER and they all went really well, felt super promising. The HR team was great at communicating and scheduling calls quickly. They asked me for referrals and I gave them 3. NuORDER contacted 2 of the 3 referrals but then told me they weren't moving forward with my application. They never even contacted the 3rd person. I followed up with 2 of the interviewers for feedback, but got no response.
- Can you describe your typical day-to-day responsibilities as a Product Manager?
- What are your general perspectives on the ecommerce industry?
- How would you describe your approach to product management?
Software Engineer
I went to the office and it felt pretty chaotic. Couldn't find a room at first. The first group asked a coding question that seemed kind of random and wouldn't let me pick my programming language. I did the question, but then it turned out there was a mistake in it, and the interviewer thought I messed up. I had to point out that what they were saying didn't match what the question asked... so it was clear they hadn't even read it properly. The second group were the front-end people. They just asked what I thought about different frameworks and how I'd build a certain feature. The third group was super weird. They just showed up, didn't even introduce themselves, and asked me to do threat modeling for my previous company. They didn't seem interested in talking or being part of the interview at all. It was really odd, and I never got any feedback. They didn't even bother to tell me if I got rejected. I mean, it's just basic politeness to follow up, but they didn't seem to care.

QA Test Engineer
Started with a phone chat with the CTO, who's a great guy. We covered different testing methods and software tools, and my background in automation and manual testing. We also touched on my knowledge of JIRA, Unix, iOS, and other web tech, and discussed browser testing approaches. Since they were interested, I then had an in-person interview at their West Hollywood office. There, I met with the CTO and a Dev team member. We dug deeper into my past roles, and I answered questions about what makes up a defect and a test case, and my strategy for testing a login page. Following that, I met one of the CEOs (the other was out) to further explore their needs and what I could offer the company.
- In what ways could automating iOS testing help us achieve our objectives more quickly?
Account Manager
I applied online for the Retail Account Manager position in London. A few weeks after, the HR manager sent me an email to schedule a first call, which I was able to book myself online. The call happened on Zoom, without video, with a US-based HR manager. She laid out the meeting's agenda and introduced herself. She then provided information about the company and the role. I then discussed my academic and professional background and my skills. I also mentioned my prior experience with a platform similar to NuOrder from my wholesale work, though I hadn't used NuOrder itself. I had the chance to ask some questions about the company and its product, and the HR manager responded enthusiastically. I inquired about NuOrder's differentiators from competitors, their market standing, the growing demand for their technology post-COVID-19, and their expansion plans in Europe. Following the call, I sent an email and a LinkedIn request, both of which were positively received. A few days later, I got an email saying my application wouldn't move forward. The HR manager kindly shared her feedback upon request: the hiring manager chose candidates with direct experience using their product. Overall, my application experience with NuOrder was very positive, and it even strengthened my interest in the company and my desire to work there.
