Behavioral

The interview process included a lot of behavioral questions. There were no technical questions or case studies. The interview depends on your position. An offer was extended after a total of 4 weeks of interviewing. It's important to know how to answer behavioral questions. For technical roles, like data science, advanced coding knowledge is a must.

Behavioral Presentation

This role had three interview stages: an initial HR chat, a meeting with the hiring manager, and a group portfolio review. The HR part was pretty standard. The hiring manager conversation was relaxed. For the portfolio review, you'll need to walk through one or two projects in detail. I didn't get an offer, so my tip is to ask them beforehand what kind of project they want to see in the third round and make sure your project choice aligns with what the team is looking for. I went with a general idea and didn't check, which led to feedback that my project wasn't relevant.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Tell me about a time you had to push back against a stakeholder who disagreed with your proposed direction. How did that conversation go?
  • How did you manage the discussion when a stakeholder didn't accept your direction?

The interview process was pretty standard, starting with a recruiter screen and then moving on to meet with the CEO and CTO. However, there were major communication issues and my schedule wasn't respected. The CEO missed three scheduled interviews without any notice. I was available each time and would check in after 10 minutes if they were late, but responses only came back later. At one point, I didn't hear back for two weeks and thought I was out of the running. They did offer me the job, but the CEO took it back a few days later for no clear reason and didn't explain why or give feedback when I asked.

So I had this interview with Numerade, and honestly, it was a bummer. Things seemed to be going well, and then they sent an email saying I'd get a verbal offer, which was awesome. But then, surprise! Another email came saying they picked someone else. The whole thing felt really messy with communication. It's kinda important for companies to be straight with people interviewing, you know? Because it makes you think about their vibe and culture. I put in a lot of time and energy, and then it just changed direction without any real reason or feedback, which felt pretty bad, like I wasn't valued. Everyone deserves to be treated right, and this just wasn't it. Hopefully, they can learn from this and do better for other candidates.
