Technical Coding System Design Behavioral

I had a really great time interviewing here. They sent over two smaller take-home assignments that were specific to the FE and BE tech stack. After I finished those, I had my technical interview. It was super relevant to the kind of stuff a software engineer actually does. The take-homes were a good jumping-off point for the technical questions, and then it moved into design talks and solving problems in real-world engineering scenarios. I actually enjoyed it a lot. It felt more like chatting with my own team than an outside interview. The team was so supportive and made me feel comfortable the whole time. I could really tell they have a good team vibe. After the technical interview, we did a behavioral round talking about different work situations. I did get an offer, but I turned it down for another role. Honestly, I'm still not sure if I made the right call because I really liked the team and what they work on.

Behavioral Technical

The hiring process was initiated by me reaching out to hiring staff on LinkedIn, which suggests the company might be slow with recruitment. I've noticed the same jobs posted repeatedly, and there are rumors about the company's financial instability, common among smaller Legal Tech firms. Employee reviews indicate a chaotic environment and outdated technology. The hiring manager missed the first scheduled interview, requiring a reschedule, which my recruitment contact attributed to technical issues rather than their own lack of follow-up, reflecting a general lack of professionalism. The subsequent interview with the hiring manager felt like a formality. A few days later, I received a rejection email. When I inquired further, my contact again vaguely blamed technology and avoided giving a direct answer. A few days after that, I received a formal rejection citing a candidate with stronger experience in certain unspecified 'gap areas' and EDRM. These 'gap areas' were never clarified during or after the process. The company's disorganization was evident, and it mirrors the struggles of competitors in the government contract space.

Coding Technical Behavioral System Design

This whole thing took me about 2 weeks, with 4 interview rounds in total. The recruiters were pretty quick to respond and I didn't have to wait too long between stages, which was nice. First up was a technical test on Hackerrank. It was a 4-hour remote test with 3 coding questions and 2 general technical ones. About two days later, they reached out saying they liked my Hackerrank test and wanted to move to the next stage, which involved two interviews over Microsoft Teams. The first was a 1-hour technical interview with two developers, which included a coding challenge using Google Sheets and some verbal questions about it. They also asked about the time and space complexity of the code I wrote. The second was a 1-hour behavioral interview with two other team members, focusing on situational questions like how I'd handle code review feedback. They got back to me by the end of that same day with the result. The final round was a 30-minute interview with the Engineering Manager, scheduled for two days later. This one focused on system design and best coding practices for different situations. Again, I heard back by the end of the day. Everyone was really friendly, and the questions, even the coding ones, were mostly scenario-based. Overall, it was a good experience!

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview process with Nuix was one of the worst I've experienced. They put me through seven rounds, including three panel interviews, and I spoke with 12 people over six weeks via phone, Skype, and in person. After everything, the recruiter twice said he'd get back to me within three business days, but I haven't heard anything in over two weeks. Everyone I spoke with was friendly, and I have no issue if they picked someone else. However, it's astonishing to put a candidate through so much and then not have the professional courtesy to wrap things up. It was the longest process I've seen for an individual contributor role and the least professionally handled. A very disappointing experience.
