The whole hiring process took way too long for a role they said they needed to fill ASAP. I sent emails to the hiring manager right away, but wouldn't hear back for days. About a month after the job was posted, the recruiter finally called. Then, a week later, I interviewed with the person currently doing the job. A week after that, I got an email saying I was rejected.

Had 3 interviews in total. First was a 10-15min recruiter call with some basic tech questions about things like port numbers, but didn't really dive into my specific skills for the job. Then, I had a 45min interview with the hiring manager where we discussed the company and his vision a lot. The last interview was a 20min panel with 4 people, which felt more like a culture fit check. These all happened over about a month. They said I'd hear back by Friday, but I got the rejection email late Monday morning.

I applied through a recruiting firm. First, I had a phone interview with someone from talent acquisition, and then another phone interview with the hiring manager. After that, the talent acquisition person sent me an online assessment, a personality type test. Then, I was invited to come in person to interview with a VP. I had to come back another day to meet with another VP, and then yet another day to meet with the hiring manager in person. In total, I had 6 interviews. All the interactions were lovely and pleasant, which made me more and more interested in working there.

After applying on LinkedIn, I got a call from HR for a quick 10-minute chat about me and why I wanted the job. Then I met my direct manager for 30-45 mins. We talked about the job, company culture, my background and qualifications. After that, I met some coworkers who spent time with me individually. They told me to ask them anything, even tough questions like 'What is the work/life balance REALLY like?'. Next, I had to complete an online assessment about my personality, past behavior and job experiences, which took about 30 minutes. Finally, I had a stressful hour-long phone call with a therapist/psychiatrist who asked personal questions about my upbringing and relationships, and made me list my top 5 strengths and weaknesses and explain them in detail. My advice: just be yourself.
