Got the call for the interview about a week after I applied. It was a face-to-face with the hiring manager. We had a good, laid-back chat, and they threw in some scenario questions to keep things interesting.

Doing this interview virtually was really tricky. I get that it had to happen because of Covid, but it's tough when you're not actually talking to people, just answering questions to a screen.

It took about a month from when I applied to when I was interviewed and then rejected. I applied online, and three weeks later, I got a call for an interview at Strathfield. They gave me a paper with 5 questions to read and think about for 15 minutes. After that, I was called in to interview with a panel of 3 people: the school principal, someone from another school in the same role, and a member of the P&F committee. They were friendly and asked good questions. Overall, it was a positive experience, though I felt my age might have been a factor in their decision despite my having the necessary skills. Still, it was a good experience, and I'd do it again if the chance came up.

It's pretty much the same process as any other interview with a Government Department. There are criteria, questions, an interview, statements, more questions, feedback, and a review. It's really the same thing as every other interview I've done with any other Government Department Agency – just a different job, a different agency, but the same stuff over and over.
