I received calls from the agency. After a first interview that went very well, where they bragged about a perfect organization and talked about how ideal my profile was for the position, they disappeared. They no longer answered calls! Awful!

The process was great, and everything was done over Teams, which was convenient. The interviewers were really friendly and made me feel at ease. The questions were fair but sometimes difficult, and the interview style was quite formal.

They are great people and easy to talk to. My first interview was a professional but easy and not demanding interview. I appreciate them working with me and my scheduling.

So I had an interview with 2 HR people and 2 scientists. They sent over a detailed job description the night before, and I didn't get a chance to review it even though I asked for it multiple times beforehand. The HR folks were really nice. One of the scientists seemed really uptight and angry, the other was a bit more friendly. Both of them seemed super stressed and in a rush. Make sure you know the company really well because they were all surprised I didn't know everything about NSG and wasn't impressed. The questions they asked were technical. For example, they asked how I would separate out the magnetic field component of light, which was a cool question! But honestly, if I knew the answer to that, I'd probably be aiming for a Nobel Prize, not interviewing here. My feeling is that I wouldn't be a good culture fit for them or for me, and they seemed to want a more conventional scientist.

  • Can you describe your approach to solving a challenging scientific problem?
  • How would you go about isolating the magnetic field component of light?
