I had several 30-minute interviews with different people at the company. There was also a quick and easy take-home assignment. Everyone I met was friendly and answered my questions directly, which made the whole experience enjoyable and fun.

My talk with the CPO was awful. He started to trash my profile without asking me anything about the parts of my experience he stated he was interested in, making his feedback more opinionated than useful. The job description said it was for a research-focused strategic design partner, but the CPO focused on things like typography and color contrast and didn't talk about the main requirements for the job. Then he showed me the profile of someone he had rejected before. I was happy when the conversation ended, and I'm glad I don't have to work at a place with such a bad culture.

The interview process was super long with a bunch of steps: several recruiter calls, a peer call, four interviews, and a role-play. They also expect you to spend a good chunk of time creating a PowerPoint to pitch Nowsta to a potential client, acting like you already know their product inside and out. After the presentation, they said I'd hear back in 48 hours, but then got ghosted with no email. This lack of communication makes me think they don't treat people well and might have internal issues, possibly leading to layoffs or rescinded offers.

So the interview was like, first a recruiter chat, then the hiring manager interview, after that a product interview, and finally a sales interview. Funny thing, the product and sales interviewers were pretty new to the company, one was there 3 months and the other just 4 weeks. So they couldn't really tell me much about the company culture. Also, the sales interview questions didn't feel super relevant to a CS role. It was a pretty standard interview process though, no weird case studies or group calls.
