Behavioral Presentation

My experience applying for this role was pretty uncomfortable and unprofessional. I saw the job on Indeed and got a call back about an hour later, which was a bit of a red flag. The next day, I had to go to this place in Bushwick. I entered through an unmarked garage and then went upstairs to this really messy, busy office. There was no buzzer or receptionist, so I basically had to just walk in and announce myself to everyone. The office itself is a shared workspace with lots of computers, and the interview happened right next to the interviewer's desk, with everyone else around. The interviewer seemed to be reading from a script and didn't seem excited about her own job, let alone the one I was interviewing for. After we talked for a bit, she gave me a quick tour of the workshop, which is in the garage. I'm not sure if it was just a bad day for them, but some of the things she said about the job sounded kind of threatening, like implying there would be negative consequences if goals weren't met. It wasn't exactly a welcoming way to learn about a job.

I applied online and heard back about a week later via email. They scheduled me for an initial interview where I met two people. Since the CEO wasn't available then, I came back a second time and met three more people. It felt like I met about half the staff, which was good for getting to know everyone. However, I did have to have the same interview with five different people individually.

I went in one day in September for an interview with this guy who was really creepy and overconfident. He actually opened the blinds so the light was behind him, and I couldn't see his face. He even pointed out that he was doing it and mentioned he knows a lot about interviewing because he has a psychology background. I should've realized then it wasn't a good fit, but it was my first job ever, and they called themselves a "consulting firm", which sounded cool because it was in NYC. Guess you live and learn!
