First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Novartis Gene Therapies.
Quality Control Analyst
The interview process was quite fast. I started with a recruiter phone call, then spoke with management a few days later, and finished with a panel interview. I received the job offer within 3 days after the last interview.

- Describe a time you had to manage a difficult relationship with your manager.

Manager
The interview process was typical, focusing on behavioral questions and assessing leadership skills. This is for an expensive startup valued at 9 billion. Everything seemed fine and went well during the process. However, after the interviews, I experienced a lack of follow-up via calls and emails regarding the status, which is unprofessional, especially as a manager myself who ensures candidates receive status updates. It's sad because the organization's product has great potential.
- Tell me about your leadership style.
- Can you describe your typical work habits?
- What is your relevant experience?
Supervisor
The interview process started with a recruiter who set up two preliminary interviews for me before passing my resume along. Then, there were several one-hour interview blocks scheduled. These included meetings with the area manager, a group of my future coworkers from the unit, the HR Director, and my direct manager along with a specialist. After these, I presume there was a background check and then an offer.
- Could you answer several technical questions?
Analyst
The interview was 2 hours long with multiple team members back to back. The interviewers seemed really tired and uninterested. The hiring manager didn't show up for my interview and never got back to me. After I followed up, they said they'd update me in a few weeks, but that never happened. I was shocked by the lack of professionalism from a company like Novartis.
- What are your long-term career aspirations?
- Could you explain the process of PCR to a novice?
