First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Nova Credit.
Software Engineer
So I interviewed with Nova Credit, and honestly, it was a pretty bad experience, super long and felt really impersonal. It started with a take-home assignment, then a call with a manager where they tried to lowball me on salary which was a huge red flag. After that, there was a technical interview with a simple algorithm question about parsing JSON. The final round was a marathon of four interviews back-to-back: two were behavioral/project deep dives where the interviewers just read questions and barely engaged, one guy kept cutting me off. Then there was a system design discussion. Lastly, a final chat with the CTO who was totally disengaged, just scrolling his phone and reading questions without listening. They clearly don't care about the candidate experience. The whole thing felt dismissive, and the salary anchoring attempt early on was just unprofessional. I'm not moving forward with them.

Credit Risk & Data Solutions Manager
The whole thing was pretty fast, like a month from the first chat to the offer. They were good at explaining things and getting back to me quickly. It was a really positive experience. First, I talked to the hiring manager about my background and how it fit the job. Then, I chatted with the customer success team about my experience with clients and how I'd deal with different situations. After that, an HR partner gave me more info about the role and company, and did a light background check. The next part was the virtual 'on-site,' which had three separate meetings. One was with an exec where we talked about building support and future vision. Another was with a data scientist and a customer success manager where we went through case studies about interpreting data, explaining my thinking, and the outcomes. The last one was a panel presentation where I had to present on a fictional client scenario covering the period after a sale but before implementation starts. Everyone I met was super qualified, which could have been intimidating, but they were all great, open, and honest about the good and bad points. Honestly, even without an offer, I'd still rate the interview process highly.
- How do you cultivate an external champion?
Marketing
So, a recruiter hit me up, and then I had the usual chat with the hiring manager. After that, they wanted to see some of my portfolio stuff before I could move on. Then came this case study, which was basically like a free work assignment on their website. I had to present my work to a panel afterwards. Oh, and there was one more final interview after that. Each step took about a week to get through, and this external recruiter was constantly bothering me, like, every single day with calls and emails, even on the weekends. Honestly, I wouldn't suggest interviewing with them unless you're really desperate, because they really drag things out with 5 whole rounds.
- What changes would you suggest for our website?
Engineering Manager
The interview process started with a chat with the hiring manager, followed by technical and project-focused interviews. Then, there was a virtual onsite which included four more interviews covering people management, project handling, technical skills, and company values. Everyone I met was super nice and genuinely interested. They have a really clear engineering culture that they live by, and it showed during the interviews.
- When executing a project, how do you determine which stakeholders should be involved in decision-making?
